Who is Allah?

Allah, there is no God but Allah. He is the First without a beginning and Eternal without an End.

Allah, there is non like Him

Allah is known by His beautiful Names and Attributes with which He has described Himself, besides this, His Nature is beyond our comprehension for no one truly knows Allah other than Himself. Of what we know, we know from what He has revealed via the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Allah is One and alone, with no partners, no equal, no opposite unto Him. He is an entity unlike any other, He is One without parts, with no definition or boundaries to Him, He is neither a body nor is He a substance which can be measured or divided.

He is absolute in His Uniqueness without anything from creation bearing any similarity to Him. He is attributed with everlasting Life, He neither begets nor was He begotten from a mother and/or father. He is Uncreated without beginning, He eternally existed when nothing else existed with Him and He is Everlasting without an end.

He originated the Heavens and the Earth out of nothingness, but He is not in need of the Heavens nor did He take it as a place of residence. He established the Majestic Throne (Ar’sh Al-Azeem) as an emblem of His Power and Sovereignty over All His creation but He did not take the Throne as a place of sitting for He existed in pre-eternity when nothing else existed, without the need for space and place and He now is as He was. Glory be to Allah Who has transcended the attributes of creation, for He is absolutely Most High in His rank and Majesty.

He is Self-Subsisting and Self-Sufficient, free of all wants and is independent of everything, though everything is dependant on Him for their existence and continual sustenance.

He is the Necessary Being Who exists independently through Himself and brings everything into existence through His Knowledge, Will and Power. Creation exists insofar as what He gave to them and their existence is not necessary. He has absolute Knowledge which encompasses the knowledge of all things. He is attributed with Speech, Hearing and Sight, without the modality of how. He hears the secrets of the hearts, He sees everything as it truly is, and nothing can remain hidden from Him.

His Will is over the will of creation, He is not subjected by anything whilst everything is subjected to change by His Will. What He wills happens and what He doesn’t will does not happen. He is All-Wise, All-Mighty and able to do all things.

He is the All Great, Infinitely Perfect in His Essence and Majestic in His Attributes, truly unending in His Beauty and Whose Splendour is without end. He is the Light of the Heavens and the Earth, He Who brought creation from the darkness of non-existence in to the light of being.

Simply, He is Allah with nothing comparable unto Him. He baffles the mind of those who seek to comprehend Him and yet imagination cannot conceive Him. Whatever someone can imagine in the mind, Allah is far and beyond that. He is the Most Merciful Whose bounties know no end. He is the Most Majestic Whose perfection knows no shore.

He is Allah. He who comes to knows His Majesty, cannot but be in awe of Him,  and he who comes to know His Beauty and Kindness, cannot but love Him. He who comes to love Allah, this is nothing but Allah’s love for him. May Allah make us knowers and lovers of Him.
