The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), what did they see?
First, they took Shahadah at the hand of none other than Al-Habib (ﷺ). They bore witness to the supreme teacher; the wisest and standard to emulate. They listened to his noble speech which was unlike any other; like pearls on a necklace – beautiful, always truthful, precise, wise, emotive and impactful. They heard his silence; prolonged and dignified. They felt his heart; the soundest and purest. They touched his hands; the softest and firmest to hold. They glimpsed at his appearance; handsome, radiant, welcoming and awe-inspiring. They were moved by his generosity; the kindest and the most munificent of people. They encountered his character; the finest and magnanimous of disposition. They experienced his love; everyone felt they were the dearest to him. He was the peak of beauty and perfection.
‘He was a human being but not like other humans,
As ruby is a stone but not like other stones.’ [Imam Busari]
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were immersed in his blessed atmosphere, they inhaled the fragrance of the beloved of Allah (ﷺ). How fortunate they were, for Allah chose them to be the Companions of His beloved. I wish we were only there to see the rising of the sun – Muhammad (ﷺ).
