يس – وَالْقُرْءَانِ الْحَكِيمِ
Ya Sin. By the Qur’an, full of wisdom [Ya-Sin: 36:2].
Allah takes an oath in the Qur’an which is full of wisdom, for it is the uncreated speech of the All-wise.
Indeed, the Qur’an is alive with a soul of its own. It enlivens the hearts and minds of the people who take heed from its advices. Allah says: “We revealed to you O Muhammad, a Spirit (inspired Book – The Qur’an) by Our command: while you did not know what is The Book and what is the Imaan (faith)? But We have made it (The Qur’an) a light whereby We guide those of Our servants whom We please; and surely you are guiding mankind to the Right Way” [Ash-Shura: 42:52].
The Qur’an has the quality of a wise person who addresses everyone according to their ability; speaking to people with wisdom that suits each person and helps them gain perspective and put things in its proper place.
Being in the company of the Qur’an is like being in the company of a wise man, whom you love, learn from and he remains always beside you giving sound advice. Only the One Who knows the true reality of things can give you a true and accurate depiction of what was, what is and what will be. He is the One best to give you advice and counsel.
Divine speech poses the question: “Does He not know what He has created, yet He is well-acquainted (with subtleties) and aware of everything?” [Al-Mulk: 67:14].
Allah is the All-knowing, He knows us better than we know ourselves. When we connect ourselves to the Qur’an, we will connect to the One who is Perfect in Knowledge and is unfathomable in His Wisdom. Who then is better placed to give us advice and counsel better than He?
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say in his prayer, after the tashahhud: “The best of word is the word of Allah (SWT) and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (ﷺ)” [Sunan an-Nasa’i].
So the best source of guidance is the guidance of the Qur’an and then the Sunnah. May Allah give us the ability to take heed from the words of Allah and the practices of the Messenger (ﷺ).
